Woman's Hour on Monday

With the Large Hadron Collider dominating the headlines in 2008, the big question now is, how will science hit the front pages in 2009?

In an effort to predict the big science and technology stories for the year ahead, I interviewed a well-known genetics researcher and a Microsoft technical evangelist for BBC Radio 4 Woman's Hour.

It was broadcast at 10am this morning, but thanks to the marvels of the web you can listen again to their thoughts on DNA health checks and cloud computing on the BBC website (about 24 mins into the show). There's also a fascinating discussion in the studio about scientific understanding, including the brilliant space scientist, Maggie Aderin-Pocock.

Plus: Good news for women in science for 2009 is that the legendary computer scientist, Wendy Hall, was made a Dame in the New Year Honours List.

Angela, i tweetered about it earlier today - had to relisten to hear who was the science-enthusiastic woman as I was driving at the time.

Comment I got back was that their wishes were rather passive. Socially conditioned or?

What would your predictions be for 2009?
